IRENE ALPHONSE
Irene is probably the best known crafter from Choiseul.
She lives in the community of Le Riche where she has her studio and works at her pottery.
She began working with clay at the early age of nine with her mother as her mentor.
Forty years later she has won many M&C fine arts awards coupled with institutional community awards.
For a few years she was a tutor at the Choiseul Arts and Craft Center before establishing her home studio.
Her work is very diverse and original and she sells it everywhere.
She is well known for her fish pots, flower pots, coal pots, jugs, and miniature animals. She can make specialty orders on demand.
Her expertise has also taken her on many overseas exhibitions to gain insight into what others are doing.
