LAWRENCE DELIGNY

Lawrence is a highly skilled and successful wood carver from the mountaintop community of Morne Jacques.

He focuses on large sculptures but also makes smaller carvings.

He carves local people and structures, fish and fishermen as well as exquisite tribal masks.

Most of his work has a Caribbean feel and some of his carvings are more than 10 feet tall.

His work is usually stained and finished and has a very professional look.

Lawrence has been working as a carver full time for more than 30 years and is self taught. His work has been shipped to many different countries throughout the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

In St. Lucia you can see his distinctive work throughout the major hotels including Anse Chastanet, Ladera, and Hummingbird as well as others with which he has contracts.

He sources his trees locally and hires someone to cut the logs to the right size for him, then he goes to work with various chisels similar to how stone is sculpted.

Lawrence is a very talented artist and can carve just about anything you can imagine.
